Hajarul Aswad (دوﺳﻷا رﺟﺣﻟا) is a sacred stone situated in the eastern corner of the Holy
Ka’bah in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, as entrusted to Prophet Muhammad to decide
its position, which then proved just how intelligent was Prophet Muhammad once more.
While performing Tawaf during Hajj and Umrah, Muslims have the sacred stone on their
left. It was said that when the Tawaf is done, two ‘houses’ beautifully converge, the heart of
a Muslim which is considered the house of Dzikr, beating on the left side of their body, and
the Ka’aba which is called Baytullah, The House of Allah.

Throughout history, countless Muslims and Prophets have performed Umrah and Hajj
around the Holy Ka’bah and have touched their blessed lips to the sacred stone. In
reference to the true colour, sacredness, and heavenly origin of Hajarul Aswad, the
Prophet Muhammad stated: “When Hajarul Aswad came down from Paradise, it was
whiter than milk, but the sins of the sons of Adam made it black.” (Tirmidhi)
