Ka’bah Musyarrafah (ﺔﻓرﺷﻣﻟا ﺔﺑﻌﻛﻟا) stands near the centre of the Masjidil Haram in Mecca
and is the sacred site towards which Muslims direct their prayers. When Mecca was finally
liberated, Prophet Muhammad went into the Ka’bah courtyard, made tawad, kissed the
Black Stone (Hajarul Aswad) and demolished statues representing Arab idols. It has
become the destination of the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage that all Muslims hope to
complete at least once in their lives in the month of Dzul Hijjah.
The Ka’bah, also known as Baytullah (The House of Allah), is a cuboid-shaped building
that holds immense religious significance for Muslims. The Ka’bah was first built by
Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail as the first house of worship dedicated to
Allah. Muslims face the Ka’bah during their daily prayers, symbolizing unity and the
oneness of Allah.
